• Regular vacuuming of your home will assist with removal of eggs and stimulate fleas to emerge. This is very important for overall flea eradication. This will pick up (and get rid of) adults, eggs, larvae and pupae before they develop.
• Keeping your home dusted and mopped regularly will also help prevent a major infestation inside the home. Even if you don’t have carpet, fleas will still live in your upholstered furniture, draperies, and bedding. They’ll lay eggs in cracks in the floor and around baseboards.
• Regularly wash dog blankets and bedding in hot water (>60°C for 10 minutes).
Bathing your pet in any mild shampoo for ten minutes will drown most adult fleas; use a flea comb to remove any fleas that don’t rinse out of your pet’s fur.
Avoid untreated animals entering your home environment.
• Reduce environmental sources of flea contamination (e.g. block pet access to under the house, keep moist shady areas free from debris).
Wash all bedding, clothing, and removable furniture covers regularly (weekly).
• Keep your grass mowed, weeds pulled, and bushes trimmed. Clear away debris as it accumulates and do regular inspections of your property for places where pests are apt to hide and multiply.
